Meteorologists
Meteorologists study the atmosphere and its effects. They create a forecast for the weather using radar, satellites, and computers, or do research on things such as storms and climate change. You should have analytical skills, be interested in weather, and be able to simplify your scientific findings to be easily understood. It is also good if you like math or computers, since this will help you in your career. Does this sound like you? If so, read on (or even if it doesn't sound like you).
In high school, you should take advanced science classes like physics, computer science, chemistry, and Earth science, as well advanced math classes- algebra, geometry, calculus. Be sure to do good in English as well; scientists need to write reports and papers. In college, you will take classes like dynamics , synoptics, physics, calculus, and computer programming . Depending on what exactly you want to do, you might take some other different classes, such as communications if you plan to be on T.V. You will need to earn at least a bachelors degree in meteorology or atmospheric science, though certain jobs may require more. Throughout the school year, you should try to get an internship with a meteorologist.
